Empire of Rust

Watch this Programme it's great
I know I go onto about him but the latest Jonathan Meades is top ep.2 about the Isle of Rust is brilliant. Bonkersly verbose as usual but excellent any fan of rusting sheds and abandoned rotting lorries should not miss the last 15-20 minutes I actually laughed out aloud (yeah I know I'm not normal but then again I never wanted to be that much) Anyway in a land were 3rd division ball room dancing and over wrought generic pop music hold sway on our screen do youself a favour and get Meaded

Oh and did Nigel Slater really make bubble without cabbage last night? He's got one of the those weird larders like Nigella has that has a camera man hiding behind the pickle and spice jars too must be tiresome in morning.

His series on Scotland has been fantastic and the one on Aberdeen is just absolutely spot on. I don't know much about him though - what else has he done?

he was the times restaurant critic for a long time until it almost killed him. Think he started out as actor but has written on architecture and culture for ages he made loads of films on buildings in this stylised very erudite but engaging way. He's the opposite of dumbing down but funny. He did one on german nazi architecture albert speer etc called "gerry built" and one prog on victorian gothic linked the designs to tertiary sylphilis! the show on leeds town hall was really good.

I'd be more worried about losing the tinted glasses than weight if I were him!

No, didn't go to Ordessa National Park. We stayed the whole time in the Couserans region, which is not national park but very nice indeed. especially when its not raining.

think the glasses are 80's brand thing I like the whole bloke in the wrong shoes in the wrong suit in the rain thing though. The gorge in Ordessa is something else it's like a mini grand canyon.
