Hops and Glory:

Hurrah BLBW's new book:
has come out and it's excellent I finished it early this morning. If you like popular History ,travel writing or indeed beer you can't go far wrong. It's very funny and yet informative and in some parts quite moving. Oh and the beers good too!
If you go to to his site below there's more details of readings and possibly beer tastings and also a link to amazon where they are doing good deals.

Got mine this morning...don't tell me the ending..... I guess he doesn't die in the end! and where is the jelly????

PS
As you might not blow your own trumpet well done for coming up with the idea for the book and the title...at least Pete credited you with both of them

That looks a read right up my street - I'm off to Amazon to add it to my basket.

mmm, looks like another thing for me to take a look at. Goes well with Stuart Maconie perhaps?

Putting aside the fact you can't ever entirely trust a pie-munching manc and the fact his book on the North failed to mention Barnsley they have a similar style.

I think Pete's has a lot more original research in it gleaned from Libraries and the backs of beer bottles and less "oh isn't eating biscuit and drinking tea surprisingly good insights" that Mr Maconi last book seemed to have. Check out PB's blog as there's some "deleteted scenes" on there as a taster.

Hmmmmm just a reminder....Which county is Bury in and what food item do you regularly comment on?

is this an admission Bro?

Though I totally agree about Pete's book, only read the first 50 pages or so but this is by far his best book. His writing has a much more authentic feel than Maconies having said that I did enjoy of Pies and Prejudice and will buy the second one, I just think you are right Pete's book is better.

Ahhh I thought that quote you deleted was quite pithy and certainly put me in my place.
